Privacy policy
SaidTrace stores recordings on your Mac and transcribes and searches them locally. This policy separates local data from information used by optional external AI, accounts, and payments.
1. Data we handle
Imported audio, recording titles and dates, transcripts, notes, search index, Ask conversation history, and settings are stored on your Mac. Original audio is copied from a recorder or a file you select, and transcription uses local Whisper. SaidTrace servers do not store recording content.
If you use an account, we use your email address and account ID for sign-in, and usage counts to manage the free allowance. If you pay, we use Stripe customer and subscription IDs and subscription status to determine paid access. Audio, transcripts, and recording titles are not sent to the account or billing server.
2. AI features
Transcription runs on your Mac. If you choose LM Studio or Ollama for notes or Ask, SaidTrace does not send recording content to an external AI service.
If you choose Codex CLI or OpenRouter, text needed for note generation and report edits, such as the transcript, or your Ask question, relevant excerpts, and recent conversation context, is sent to the external AI route you select. The original audio file is not sent. Codex CLI manages its own sign-in; SaidTrace does not obtain or store ChatGPT browser cookies or authentication tokens.
3. Data sharing
Only when you choose external AI do we send the necessary text to OpenAI through Codex CLI, or to OpenRouter and your selected model provider. We use Amazon Cognito for account sign-in and Stripe for payments. Stripe handles card details; SaidTrace does not store card numbers in the app or on its servers.
We do not use or sell recording content for advertising. Data you export or share through an MCP connection is handled according to the destination app's settings.
4. Storage and deletion
Local data remains on your Mac until you delete it. Uninstalling the app may leave the archive in Application Support and any files you exported. Send requests to access, correct, or delete account information to the contact below.
SaidTrace account sign-in tokens and your OpenRouter API key are stored in macOS Keychain.
5. Changes to this policy
We will reflect changes to this policy on this page and give appropriate notice of material changes.
