Terms of service
Conditions for storing recordings on your Mac and using the AI you choose.
1. Scope and service
These Terms govern SaidTrace for Mac and its related authentication, allowance, and billing services, operated by Taiga Mochiki. The Terms will be presented for acceptance when the service is formally offered. SaidTrace provides importing, local transcription, notes and Ask with your chosen AI, search, export, and MCP integration. Consult the distribution notice for supported devices and system requirements. Recorder hardware is not included.
2. Rights in recordings and data
Your rights in your recordings and materials remain yours; using the service does not transfer them to us. Third-party rights remain with their owners. Processing permission is limited to carrying out the importing, transcription, generation, and integrations you request. Audio, transcripts, notes, and conversations are stored on your Mac, not on SaidTrace's account or billing servers. Input synchronization through your personal iCloud or another service is governed by that service's terms.
3. Accounts and free allowances
Protect your credentials. Minors must obtain any required guardian consent. Authentication, entitlements, and allowances are managed per account; selecting local AI does not mean every feature works entirely offline. The free account has separate allowances of 20 new imports, 20 AI summary generations, and 20 MCP tool calls in total per UTC calendar month, shared across Macs. Reinstallation does not reset allowances. In-app viewing, search, and Ask themselves are outside these count allowances.
4. Software license
We grant a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use SaidTrace to organize and use your own records. Decompilation except as permitted by law, unauthorized redistribution or resale, and removal of copyright notices are prohibited. Separate licenses take precedence for third-party software and open-source components to which they apply.
5. Paid plans and renewal
SaidTrace Plus costs US$3 monthly or US$18 annually, without count caps on imports, AI summary generations, or MCP calls. This does not remove processing constraints or external AI limits. Paid subscriptions have no free trial; free allowances are not a time-limited trial. Review the currency, total including taxes, and billing interval in Stripe Checkout before purchasing. Subscriptions renew on the same interval until canceled. Price changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance, including when they apply to existing subscriptions. Macs, internet access, optional recorders, and external AI fees are separate.
6. Cancellation, refunds, and deletion
You can stop renewal at any time through the billing portal. Period-end cancellation preserves paid access until the paid period ends, then returns the account to free allowances, unless a separate valid benefit applies. Cancellation does not delete local recordings. Prorated refunds are generally not provided, but refunds required by law and verified serious service failures or incorrect charges are addressed individually. Uninstalling, signing out, or revoking Google permission does not cancel a subscription. Request account deletion through support; subscription termination and data handling will be confirmed with you. Deletion alone is not treated as automatic cancellation.
7. AI, external services, and MCP
Transcripts, summaries, and answers may contain misrecognition, omissions, or inaccurate information. Verify important decisions against source audio or other evidence. If you select external AI, necessary text is sent to that provider, but original audio files are not. Materials shared through MCP or exports are also subject to the destination's terms. You need your own eligible AI contract, authentication, and permissions. We do not guarantee external providers' pricing, limits, or continued availability. See the privacy policy.
8. Prohibited use and recording consent
Obtain the consent and rights needed to record or import material and comply with applicable law. Improper monitoring without consent, infringement of privacy or copyright, unauthorized access, improper circumvention of authentication or allowances, disruption of the service, and unlawful use are prohibited.
9. Backups and intellectual property
Maintain your own backups. An account or paid subscription does not provide cloud backup of recordings. Archives and exported files may remain after uninstalling. Rights in SaidTrace's brand, original code, and design belong to us or their rightful owners and are separate from your rights in your recordings.
10. Changes and suspension
We will give reasonable advance notice of significant changes or discontinuation through email, in-app notices, or similar means. Outages, maintenance, or urgent security work may require temporary suspension. Serious violations may result in necessary and proportionate access restrictions. We do not guarantee that all local features will continue if cloud authentication or allowance services end. Discontinuation notices will address preserving and exporting existing data and handling unprovided paid service periods.
11. Warranties and liability
Recognition of every recording, accurate or complete AI outputs, continuous availability, and fitness for a specific purpose are not guaranteed. This does not restrict statutory consumer rights. To the extent permitted by law, liability for our ordinary negligence is limited to direct, ordinary damage and capped at the greater of the amount paid in the preceding 12 months or US$20. This limitation does not apply to intentional misconduct, gross negligence, injury to life or body, or liability that cannot legally be limited.
12. Governing law and disputes
Japanese law governs these Terms, without depriving you of protections under applicable mandatory laws. We encourage resolution through support first. To the extent permitted by law, the Tokyo District Court or Tokyo Summary Court is the agreed court of first instance.
13. Changes to the Terms
We will publish amendments and their effective date. Material changes will generally be announced at least 30 days in advance through email, in-app notices, or similar means, and any consent required by law will be obtained. Continued use is not treated as acceptance of every possible amendment.
