Keep recordings with you, not inside one service.
When you record conversations and ideas every day, a record button is only the beginning. You need to find a particular exchange, revisit its context, and return to the original voice when it matters. SaidTrace is a Mac voice archive built for that return trip.
Keep the recording method you already use.
Audio from a recorder and iPhone Voice Memos can live in the same archive once they reach your Mac. Import supported files manually, or let an approved removable drive trigger import while the app is running. Your archive should not be divided by the brand of device you used.
Transcribe locally. Choose where AI runs.
Whisper transcribes on your Mac. SaidTrace keeps the original audio, transcript, and notes together for each recording. You can choose a local model for notes and Ask. If you choose an external AI, the necessary text is sent to that provider—not the original audio file. The choice belongs to the person keeping the record.
Return from the answer to the voice.
Search and Ask are not just ways to read a summary. They help you locate a statement, ask about it, and inspect the source recording. Read-only MCP and export let other tools work with your archive, too. Keeping the record separate from the tools that use it is the idea behind SaidTrace.
